What’s New on ElizabethanDrama.org?

November 7, 2017

This blog is new!

In this blog, I plan to post occasional brief articles of interest (at least to those who enjoy Elizabethan Drama) on topics that do not necessarily merit a permanent page.

This purpose of this website, of course, is to increase interest in the plays written in the Elizabethan era (which includes, for our purposes, all dramas written through the closing of the theatres in 1642). The site contains newly-annotated plays representing the work-product of all of the great playwrights of the era. The annotations are located next to the lines they are explaining, which provides the viewer with an unprecedented easy-to-read experience.

The annotations are not just my own; I include as well the wisdom and interpretative notes of all the editors of the plays of previous centuries.

The result, I hope, is essentially definitive annotated versions of the English language’s greatest works, available online, for free, and forever.

I am including comment capability on the post pages; I invite all readers of this site to comment, to inquire, to request and to suggest.
